Portalevel - Ultrasonic Liquid Level Indicator

Operation

The unit is simple to operate using push button controls and requires little or no training. It is calibrated to each cylinder at the touch of a button. The ultrasonic “dry” sensor requires no water or gel to ensure good transmission of the ultrasonic signal; the optional “wet” sensor to condition cylinders where thick or irregular coatings or badly pitted and rusty surfaces prevent the dry sensor from obtaining a clear signal. The sensors are housed in a magnetic applicator which ensures good contact with the surface and
allows hands-free operation.
To locate the liquid level in a vessel:
The sensor applicator is placed on the test vessel below the expected liquid level and then calibrated and all LED lights are lit on the digital unit, or the meter fully deflected on the analogue.
The sensor is then placed above the expected level – all lights extinguish.
The sensor is moved between these two points in small steps until the interface is located.

All unusual readings should be double-checked, if the same readings result we recommend that the bottle be isolated and removed for weighing; in most cases the contents will have leaked.

Features

"CAL" - The Portalevel is a digital self calibrating unit and the internal programming is easily controlled through the CAL feature. This means no manual tuning is required as it will automatically cater for variation of cylinder type, size, wall thickness, pain thickness and condition.
"SPA" - The SPA feature is designed for use on cylinders in poor condition (rusty, badly painted or for use without coupling). It increases the power output of the unit and increases the sensitivity of the returning signal allowing easy testing in difficult conditions.
Sensor - The metal applicator houses the electronic probe which is placed on the side of the cylinder. It both emits and receives the ultrasonic signal which travels through the cylinder wall and content to identify the interface between the air and liquid.

Applicator - The applicator is made of machined metal and is designed to house and protect the ultrasonic probe. It has a magnetic tip which allows for easy hands-free testing as the sensor can be attached to the cylinder wall during testing.
Enclosure - The tough plastic enclosure of the Portalevel makes the unit light (just 500 grams) and exceptionally resilient. In the history of the current Portalevel design, we have never had an enclosure fail in the field.
LED & Digital Display - the results are delivered to the user in an intuitive, easy to read format. The digital LEDs are the primary method of indication with the Portalevel and clearly show if one is testing above or below the liquid level using their bright red glow, allowing for use even in darkened environments. These are complimented by the digital numerical display which compliment the LEDs and give an indication of the power of the returning signal.
Power Controls - Simple on/off switches control the power supply
